As 2019, Thrive's first year, is wrapping up, I wanted to celebrate some of the great things that have happened this year! Thrive had its first market this March and grew from there. A website was created, business cards printed, a market display designed, and many, many arrangements sold. This year I sold my creations at 7 markets and learned a lot about what it takes to run a business. I would call that a successful year! I was also able to meet my financial goal of ending this year debt-free! When I started Thrive, I designated a certain amount of money which became Thrive’s business fund. I used this money to do things like buy materials and pay for market fees. After each market, I re-invested my profits to grow the number of arrangements I could make and the kinds of markets I could sell at. This meant that most of my earnings this year went back to Thrive, instead of to me. However, I ended the year by paying myself back in full for the money I initially invested, giving myself my first “paycheck” and having plenty left over to continue to pay for Thrive’s expenses. This was made possible by my final market of the year, which was by far my most successful. Thank you so much to everyone who visited me in the Civic Center on Dec. 14, or stopped by before or afterward to buy an arrangement. I hope that your plants are happy and thriving! If you weren’t able to make it, I still have some great arrangements left! You can find pictures and information on the “Photo Gallery” page.
In addition to celebration, the end of the year is a great time to look into the future. One of my goals for 2020 is to apply for more and more well-known markets. I have already started to do this, planning markets for next spring and summer, and even looked at a few for the fall! Many of these markets are juried, so I might not know if I got in until weeks or even months after I apply. So, even if the market schedule looks a little empty, know that I’m working on it. Another one of my goals is to post more often and direct more people to my website. I know that I haven’t done such a great job of that this last year (my last post was in July, yikes!). I 2020, I plan on posting at least once a month. I addition to this, there will be a “Succulent of the Month” post. These will be short and sweet, highlighting some of my favorite succulents, and the ones most commonly used in my arrangements Like I said before, I’m working on getting more people to my website. So, if you’re reading this, thank you! Come back soon to check out January’s succulent of the month. For now, have a happy New Year!
